We are incredibly proud to congratulate our Senior Trade Marketing & Partnerships Officer, Chloe Sydes, on being selected as the Queensland Tourism Industry Council’s (QTIC) Young Tourism Leader for the Gladstone Region.

Chloe’s journey with our organisation is one that truly reflects the strength of the local tourism industry and the opportunities it creates. Beginning as a Year 10 work experience student while attending Chanel College, Chloe continued her pathway through a school-based traineeship before securing a full-time role following graduation.

Since then, she has grown into a key member of our team, playing an important role in trade engagement, partnership development and promoting the Gladstone Region on both a national and international stage.

Reflecting on her career in tourism, Chloe shared:

“I love working in Queensland’s tourism industry because it’s an industry built on people, places, and pride. Tourism here isn’t just about promoting destinations, it’s about supporting local businesses, strengthening regional communities, and sharing stories that make each place unique. Being able to see the direct impact of our work on operators and communities is incredibly rewarding.”

Chloe’s selection as a Young Tourism Leader is a testament to her passion for the industry, her strong work ethic, and her commitment to supporting the growth of tourism across the Gladstone Region and the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

Delivered by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, the Young Tourism Leaders Program brings together emerging leaders from across the state. The program is designed to build leadership capability, strengthen industry networks, and empower participants to become advocates for tourism within their communities.

Through the program, participants gain valuable professional development opportunities, while also helping to inspire the next generation to consider a career in tourism.

Chloe’s achievement highlights the important role young professionals play in shaping the future of Queensland’s visitor economy and reinforces the strength of talent emerging from regional communities like ours.

The Young Tourism Leaders Program is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland.

We look forward to seeing Chloe continue to grow in her career and represent the Gladstone Region with passion and pride.
