Dive Spear and Sport 1770 is thrilled to announce that two of our exceptional team members have officially been recognised as Master Reef Guides, solidifying
our position as leaders in reef tourism and education.
The Master Reef Guide program, facilitated by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of reef stewardship. Our staff completed the 8th cohort training on Heron Island, gaining advanced skills in reef interpretation, science communication, and conservation leadership. Master Reef Guides are ambassadors of the Great Barrier Reef, embodying
expertise, passion, and an unwavering dedication to preserving this World Heritage-listed wonder.
“This is a huge achievement for our team,” said Carmen Bolton Director at Dive Spear and Sport 1770. “Having two Master Reef Guides in our operation elevates the level of expertise and care we offer to our guests. We are committed to inspiring our visitors to connect with and protect the reef, and this recognition reinforces our dedication to sustainable tourism.”
Jess one of the newly recognized guides, shared their excitement: “Becoming a Master Reef Guide is a dream come true. It’s an opportunity to share the beauty of the reef and educate people about its importance, not just as a destination but as an ecosystem that supports life globally.”
Having two Master Reef Guides on staff enhances Dive Spear and Sport 1770’s already exceptional experiences on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Visitors can now enjoy tours led by some of the most knowledgeable and passionate reef ambassadors in Australia.
