Welcome To

Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum

Description

The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM), established in 1985, is dedicated to promoting art, culture, and heritage for the communities of the Gladstone Region and Central Queensland. Housed in the Heritage Listed old Gladstone Town Hall, the facility features a purpose-built extension connected to the historic building by a glass bridge walkway. The Gallery & Museum serves as a custodian for the preservation of the region’s history and cultural collections.

The facility consists of four exhibition spaces: Town Hall Gallery, Front Gallery, Museum Room, and O’Connell Space. These spaces showcase rotating exhibitions of art and history, with new displays introduced every 6 to 8 weeks. The building’s design includes a dramatic aluminium and stainless steel installation on the façade of the O’Connell wing, created by local artist Margaret Worthington. Inspired by the harbour and shipping charts of Port Curtis, the artwork adds to the unique aesthetic of the facility.

Visitors can explore the exhibition spaces on the ground level, while a workshop studio space is accessible downstairs with lift access, providing a versatile area for creative activities and events. The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum offers a dynamic cultural experience, blending art, history, and heritage to engage and educate visitors about the Gladstone Region’s rich cultural tapestry.
