Welcome To

Boynedale Bush Camp

Description

Boynedale Bush Camp is positioned on the banks of Lake Awoonga and offers great views of the area. This bush camp is provided free to the public for camping for up to seven days within a 30 day period. The area offers a composting toilet, fire rings, picnic tables and shelters. No booking is required to camp at Boynedale, and sites are on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Please note that there is no electricity supply, rubbish bins or portable water available so campers are advised to provide their own.

Lake Awoonga is stocked with Barra, Saratoga and Sea Mullet. If you happen to reel in a Mangrove Jack, consider yourself lucky as they are a rare find. Along with fishing, the tranquil waters of the lake are perfect for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, plus depending on water levels, the launching of small watercraft may be possible. There is a lookout nearby which provides spectacular views of Lake Awoonga and Castletower National Park.

As Lake Awoonga is a wildlife sanctuary, visitors are discouraged from bringing pets to the area. However small dogs may be allowed at the Boynedale Bush Camp, and must be kept strictly under control at all times.
