Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd (GAPDL) is a not-for-profit, membership based organisation that was originally founded in 1983.
Today, more than 30 years on, GAPDL is a dynamic and enthusiastic organisation responsible for strategically marketing the Gladstone Region as a preferred tourism, investment and lifestyle destination. GAPDL is recognised by the Queensland State Government as one of the 13 Regional Tourism Organisations responsible for promoting the Gladstone Region to both the domestic and international markets.
With a vision to advance the Gladstone Region through the promotion and development of business, industry and tourism for the benefit of our members and the Community, GAPDL also aims to encourage and foster new sustainable business and industry investment opportunities to assist with driving the region’s economy forward. GAPDL’s active participation and facilitation of projects, programs and services for the Gladstone Region greatly benefit our community.
As the Gladstone Region’s lead business, tourism and community development organisation, GAPDL has strong professional partnerships with many important partners including Gladstone Regional Council, Australian and Queensland Governments, Tourism and Events Queensland, Queensland Tourism Industry Council, along with Community Organisations and Major Industry. GAPDL works alongside these many important partners and members to constantly identify and facilitate strategies that will grow existing regional business. Our partnerships sit at the heart of the Region’s dynamic business, tourism and community growth and development.
GAPDL membership base consists of over 200 members who support the Gladstone Region. These members come from a wide range of sectors including government, accommodation, attraction and tour operators, mining and industry companies, retail and service providers, real estate agencies, local media, community groups and many more.
More than an economic growth partner, GAPDL operates and manages 2 accredited Visitor Information Centre’s (VIC’s) located in Agnes Water and Gladstone, and a mobile Information Centre which is a first for Queensland. These regional VIC’s are supported by a united team of Volunteer Ambassadors with vast knowledge and appreciation of the Gladstone Region.
GAPDL are also the Project Managers for the Communities for Children (CfC) program that strives to assist young people and their families grow into a child friendly community. Several other community based programs aimed at integrating new families into the Gladstone Region has been successfully facilitated by the GAPDL Communities for Children Program.
Additional to all the programs, services and initiatives listed above, GAPDL also provides networking events including Business Luncheons, Member Networking Evenings, Workshops and forums that cover an extensive array of topics that are helpful to our members and partners.
