GAPDL Economic Development InitiativesINVESTMENT ATTRACTION
GAPDL undertakes a number of regional programs to attract a wide range of investment to the Gladstone Region. Publications such as the Gladstone Region Advantage and Project Status Report highlight investment opportunities throughout the region.
A number of investment opportunities have also been identified in the areas of clean energy, mining support industries, tourism and accommodation that GAPDL is also active in attracting investment.
GAPDL also has close working relationships with the Gladstone Economic and Industry Development Board, Department of State Development and local councils throughout the Gladstone Region that can help connect potential investors.
SKILLS ATTRACTION & RETENTION
A key component of GAPDL’s activities in skills attraction and retention is the Make the Move website which showcases the liveability of the Gladstone region and supports the recruitment activities of businesses throughout the region.
GAPDL also provides a number of other skills attraction programs including a relocation consultancy that highlights the range of services and facilities in communities to potential employees.
A Welcoming Gladstone program is also available for migrants settling in the Gladstone Region that assists with new employees and their families to integrate into their new community.
COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING
GAPDL works closely with many business and community groups throughout the region to help them improve their skills in grant writing and provide access to a wide range of information.
Close relationships are also nurtured with local government Community Development Officers to ensure investment and skills attraction activities compliment the strengths and culture of local communities.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
GAPDL provides support for businesses and industry in overcoming impediments to growth in areas such as water, housing, transport, training and education.
In partnership with the Department of State Development, GAPDL also facilitates business skills development for local businesses throughout the region as well as identifying gaps in industry support businesses to encourage investment in those areas.
