GAPDL PRE-ELECTION LUNCHEON

GAPDL’s upcoming March Pre-Election Enterprise Luncheon is expected to be a popular event for the Gladstone Region business community.

GAPDL will host two local election candidates Mrs Liz Cunningham MLA, Independent Member for Gladstone and Mr Peter O’Sullivan, Labor Candidate for the Seat of Gladstone.

The luncheon will be held on Thursday 5 March at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre, with pre luncheon networking commencing at 11.30am for a 12 noon start. The Luncheon will be held only a mere two weeks before the recently announced State Election on Saturday March 21.

GAPDL Chairman Colin Burke commented today “This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of the Gladstone Region to get some insight into what some of our Local Election Candidates will be providing the residents of this Region should they be elected.”

“It is great to have Peter and Liz as Keynote Speakers at our Enterprise Luncheon so close to upcoming State Election”.

GAPDL CEO, Glenn Churchill said “GAPDL is pleased to provide the Region with this chance to hear from our Local Election Candidates to hear about the future visioning for the Region, and how they will be helping to keep it the Region of Choice”

Peter O’Sullivan announced today “This is a great time for the business community of the Gladstone Region to get a better understanding of what sort of positive outcomes we can achieve working with the state government.”

“The Gladstone Community and our Region is a great place to live, and I am committed to making it even better.”

“I am dedicated to encouraging industries which will provide high quality jobs for the community and especially for the future of our young people.”

Peter O’Sullivan further said “I have been proud to work in Gladstone and the Region over the last 20 years.”

“After being a high school teacher and principal for many years I know the anxiety that our young people have about their future job prospects after they leave school.”

“The current economic crisis has the potential to have serious impacts on many parts of this state however with a bit of forward thinking I believe that Gladstone and the Region will be able not only to cope but will grow and develop to its full potential.”

“With a young family, I know the importance of protecting our local environment and achieving a work-life balance.”

Liz Cunningham commented today, “The Queensland State Election has been called for 21st March – effectively isolating and disenfranchising 60% of Queenslanders affected by flood.  This total disregard for people in rural and regional Queensland has become a hallmark of this ALP Government.”

“Meeting with GAPDL members and the community will give me a welcomed opportunity to canvas issues of importance to this region – Queensland’s debt load; the inability of this Government to manage our economy;  and their unwillingness to listen to the people they are charged to represent.”

“I look forward to this opportunity to discuss current issues, to respond to questions and to reflect on the work done on behalf of this Region over the past term.”

This Enterprise Luncheon is proudly supported by SunSuper, The Gladstone Observer, Gladstone Media Centre, Southern Cross Ten, Gladstone Regional Council, and Qantaslink.
