After their recent sold out tour 'Sway Sway Baby live' and their #2 ARIA Smash Hit, Short Stack are again hitting the road again for their third national tour in support of the band's new album Stack Is The New Black. Short Stack (Shaun Diviney guitar / lead vocals, Andy Clemmensen bass / vocals and Bradie Webb drums / keyboards) are undoubtedly one of the hottest young bands in Australia right now, proof enough from the bands recent Channel [V] Oz Artist of the Year win where they'd received over 400,000 votes. The teenaged three-piece from New South Wales' Central Coast has gone on to do what no other Australian music act has successfully achieved - used the combined powers of SMS, YouTube and MySpace to amass a following that's growing by the second; racking up over four million plays on MySpace, with over one million plays for their second single Princess alone, and on top of that, being Australia's biggest band on YouTube with over 2.5 million views of the Short Stack TV series and video clips. In between HSC exams and gigs supporting the likes of The Veronicas, Simple Plan and Good Charlotte, work began on Stack Is The New Black with all the songs written by Shaun. Stack Is The New Black covers a range of styles - from epic ballads to fast and furious electro-tinged rock anthems. Tickets: One price $50.00

Don't be a fool, change your smoke alarm battery
Date: 1 April 2010

Venue: Queensland

Contact Details:

www.changeyourbattery.com

Don't be a fool, change your smoke alarm battery this April Fool's Day The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) and Duracell are reminding all Queenslanders there is a serious side to April Fool's Day - April 1 is also the day to change all smoke alarm batteries because only working smoke alarms help save lives. QFRS Commissioner Lee Johnson said while most people are aware of the silent and deadly affects of smoke inhalation many underestimate the vital role smoke alarms play in alerting people in the event of a fire. ?In order to escape from a fire people need to be awake but smoke alarms can only provide the necessary warning signs if they are in working order - they’re not much use if they’re disconnected, pulled down or the battery is flat,- Mr Johnson said. ‘That’s why it’s vital that all Queenslanders use April 1 as the day to change their smoke alarm battery and make sure they are working.’ Last year there were over 1850 residential fires nationally with most house fires take place during the night between 9pm and 6am. Alarming research released in the 2009 Duracell National Fire Safety Report revealed that one in five Australians take down or remove the battery of their smoke alarm when it’s accidentally triggered by cooking. Sadly many Queenslanders lose their lives as a result of not having working smoke alarms. It’s tragic when you think these lives could have been saved for as little as five dollars - the price of a long-lasting Duracell alkaline battery.
IMPORTANT SMOKE ALARM FACTS:
·         Smoke alarm batteries should be replaced with long-lasting alkaline batteries every 12 months on April 1.
·         Smoke alarms should be tested monthly to see if they work by pressing the test button with a broom handle.
·         Smoke alarms should be vacuumed every six months to clean the vents.
·         Smoke alarms should be installed outside sleeping areas and on each level of a house.
·         People who sleep with their door closed should have a smoke alarm in their room.
·         Avoid locating smoke alarms near cooking appliances and bathrooms as the smallest amount of smoke or steam can activate them.
·         In a rental property it is the tenant’s responsibility to regularly clean and test a smoke alarm.
·         People with a hearing impairment need to be alerted by vibrating pads or a strobe light in the event of a fire.

A hilarious comedy about 'over the hill' cleaners who start 'talking dirty' and end up filthy rich! A trio of hard-working cleaners are facing the axe. They might be past their best, beyond their sell-by date and over the hill but they certainly won't take threats of redundancy lying down. These game 'girls' set up a phone service, known as 'The Telephone Belles', and that's when the fun really begins. Their bosses don't know about it, their families would never guess and their very willing customers are none the wiser. They're the only chat-line girls with dusters, attitude and their very own bus passes! Don't miss the original old-timers who become good-time girls in this year's must-see comedy! This fabulous show is kindly supported by Southern Cross Ten, Hot FM and The Observer. Tickets: Adults $40.00 Friends $30.00 Concession $30.00 Students $25.00 Groups 8+ $25.00

The Bohemians are an idealistic, penniless bunch intent on enjoying the festive season.

Tribulations, celebrations and a troubled love triangle provide a counterpoint to the genuine and profound love between Rodolfo and Mimi. Although they transcend love's enemy, misunderstanding, their destiny is ultimately a tragic one. Puccini's poignant music amplifies the drama, and, so long as we believe in the characters, their journey inevitably touches our most fundamental human emotions.

In the best traditions of Co-Opera, this production of La Boh'me, set in no specific era, seeks that romantic essence which has made it one of the most widely performed and loved of all operas.

With its blend of humour, romance and tragedy, La Boh'me is fertile material for a complete operatic experience.

A captivating and inspiring evening of music and story-telling; Bringing alive the most fascinating of the Beatles.

This musical production pays tribute and respect to the man and his genius. It is a concert that will inspire you and leave you in awe of his music, his artistry and his messages of peace.

With authentic instruments, costumes and an appropriate selection of songs, the show takes us from his youth, through the Beatles hey-day, their demise and on to Lennon's last years.

This music is strung together with a fairly minimal dramatic monologue, which is delivered by looking back on the twists and turns of his eventful life.

It's a chance to relieve the highs of The Beatles unparalleled fame, the controversy of their break-up, the intrigue of John Lennon's solo career and the shocking tragedy of his untimely death.

With 30 songs being performed, this is as close as you'll get to the fantasy of seeing John Lennon Live.

Hotel California ? The Eagles Experience, fills the musical void left behind when the world's much-loved rock superstars, The Eagles, disbanded in 1982. Join the five highly respected, multi-talented musicians in a show that salutes the talent and musicianship of the original members.

From the '70s through to the '80s, The Eagles were a major force in the world music scene. They were heaped with Gold and Platinum Records, showered with awards, and struggled to keep up with demand for product and live appearances, a strain that many say led to their break-up.

Hotel California ? The Eagles Experience focuses on The Eagle's Hell Freezes Over Tour of the early '90s, capturing an era when The Eagle's music undeniably transcended the boundaries of rock, R&B and country.

It's an exciting showcase of all the chart-toppers, such as Take it Easy, One of These Nights, Take it to the Limit, Heartache Tonight, Hotel California, Lyin' Eyes, Witchy Woman, New Kid In Town, Tequila Sunrise, Desperado, Best of My Love and Life in the Fast Lane, as well as more recent releases, Get Over It and Love Will Keep Us Alive.

The group also performs selected solo hits of 1971 founding members Don Henley and Glen Frey, and Joe Walsh, who joined The Eagles in 1975. The music of The Eagles touched the hearts of a generation. If you enjoyed life in the fast lane in the '70s, or simply yearn for a night at the Hotel California, don't miss this amazing multi media show.

They’ve faced off against George Negus, played charades with Harry Shearer, have multi-platinum, award-winning DVD’s, supported Take That just before Robbie left and N'Sync just before JT left (if you'd like Human Nature to break up just give them a call), performed for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance, served a ball into Pat Rafter's backside in front of thousands, appeared on the Tonight Show with their second biggest US fan Robin Williams, and are regularly stalked by American mothers after the success of their kids TV show in the US. The Umbilical Brothers are a global comedy phenomenon, and as with all their adventures Dave & Shane have again raised the stakes. In Heaven by Storm, they die on the way to theatre and when it comes time to enter Heaven, there is only one spot left. From Hawaii to Tokyo, New York to Stockholm, audiences have laughed like idiots at their acclaimed performances and in this classic show Shane and Dave use the entire comedy spectrum, warping theatrical rules to convey their twisted path to the Pearly Gates. Tickets: Adults $39.90 Pensioners $34.90 Groups 10+ $34.90.

This inventive musical, performed by Chanel College students from Years 8 - 12 and directed by Michele Chapman, brings the old Frankenstein story bang up-to-date - right into the computer age, in fact. When Frank Enstein arrives at Enstein Hall from the USA he continues the reanimation experiments of his deceased great-great uncle. Frank?s expertise in computer robotics and the timely arrival of Burke and Hare, two rather suspicious undertakers, soon have remote-controlled monsters rolling off the production line. Demand soon outstrips supply and it is then that Frank's scheme takes an even more sinister turn as he sets up "The Dungeon of Death" to obtain "voluntary" corpses. His plans are foiled by Dr Ruby Watson and John B. Good, the family solicitor, with a little help from Sherlock Holmes, Jnr. Unfortunately this involves most of the cast, goodies as well as baddies, being killed off, but with the help of Franks' machine, all are reanimated in time for a rousing final chorus of Humanoid Boogie. Steaming is the heart-warming, ribald classic by Nell Dunn. The show is known for its razor-sharp, acerbic dialogue and YES, its nudity, however it's so much more than that - its about friendship, finding your place in the world and fighting for what you believe in.

Set in an old Turkish bath somewhere in the East End of London, six women of all conditions come to bare their bodies, souls and fantasies. It is a warm-hearted, often humorous portrayal of women coming to know each other.

When they realise their 'sanctuary', their little bit of luxury, is about to be demolished by penny-pinching, self-aggravating bureaucrats, they must unite and 'save the baths'.

How many entertainers from Australasia can claim to have partied with Elvis, talked footy with Tom Jones, dated I dream of Jeannie’s Barbara Eden, headlined a Vegas show room, and had chart success in the US, the UK and Australia and New Zealand for the past 40 years? You’re about to find out when John Rowles heads to Gladstone this August. At age 62 John Rowles shows no sign of slowing down. He has just completed two full scale tours of New Zealand in the last two years, appeared in the New Zealand version of “Dancing With The Stars”, had a documentary produced on his life called “The Secret Life of John Rowles”, and has recently announced a “Comeback” special show in Honolulu presented by Tom Moffatt, the man who promoted Elvis Presley’s 1977 comeback special. Oozing the dazzling style of a true Las Vegas showman, the new album sees John’s voice at its spine tingling best with an amazing rendition of Sinatra’s “My Way’, long a fixture of John’s live shows amongst the highlights. The voice is better than ever, and the fans are more than ever showing their affection for an entertainer who has always given 100% to them. Tickets: One price $40.00
