South End campground is located 1.2km from the jetty, on the northeast side of the South End township, Curtis Island. The campground is an open grassy area with large eucalypts providing some shade. There are 20 campsites at South End with a short walk to Front Beach. Both Curtis and Facing Islands are approximately 12 km from the Gladstone mainland and can be accessed by private vessel or via the barge operated by Curtis Ferry Services. Camping permits are required and MUST be collected from the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre and MUST be displayed on the outside of your camping structure at all times. The campgrounds have basic facilities including composting toilets and picnic tables. Gas barbeques are located at the Southend campground. Wood fires are not permitted. Please carry your own drinking water. There is a tank water supply at both campgrounds, however recent tests have shown that it does not meet safe drinking water guidelines. Generators are permitted.
